TOPIC: A LIVING HOPE

TEXT: 1 Peter 1:3-9(NKJV)

  • 1:3. Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
  • 1:4. to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you,
  • 1:5. who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
  • 1:6. In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials,
  • 1:7. that the genuineness of your faith, [being] much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ,
  • 1:8. whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see [Him,] yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory,
  • 1:9. receiving the end of your faith — the salvation of [your] souls.

STUDY:

In today’s text, we see Apostle Peter blessing God for giving us a living hope for an incorruptible and undefiled inheritance that is reserved for Christians in Heaven. We also find that Christians are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation that will be revealed at last.

As Christians, we rejoice in our salvation despite various trials and fiery test of the genuineness of our faith to the praise, honour, and glory of Jesus Christ at his coming. As believers, we love and believe in Jesus Christ and rejoice with deep joy because of the salvation of our souls.

In times of difficulties, hardship, economic depression, violence, wars and destruction of life and property, people easily lose hope but as Christians, we are expected to rejoice and glorify God because we have a living hope of our inheritance in heaven. Are you part of those with a reserved inheritance in heaven?

If not, you can turn your hopelessness to a glorious living hope by trusting in the finished work of Christ on the cross. Give your heart to the Lord Jesus now and receive a living hope, even the hope of having eternal life in the life to come.

PRAYER:

Thank you, Lord, for accepting to come into my life and giving me a living hope.
