The celebrated Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie will take center stage at the 2025 Things Fall Apart Festival in Enugu — an event dedicated to honoring the literary legacy of Chinua Achebe.
Scheduled to run from June 29 to July 5, 2025, at the Centre for Memories in Enugu, the week-long festival will feature a rich lineup of performances, exhibitions, and conversations inspired by Achebe’s groundbreaking novel. The Centre, which is organizing the event, confirmed Adichie’s participation via Instagram on Tuesday.
Fresh off her international book tour for Dream Count, Adichie will offer reflections on storytelling, cultural identity, and collective memory — themes that resonate deeply with Achebe’s work. This year’s festival theme, Masculine, Feminine, Human: The Dialogue of Complements in Things Fall Apart, aims to spark meaningful conversations around gender, identity, and heritage.
Highlights of the festival include stage plays, tech-enabled storytelling, film screenings, art exhibitions, memory walks, and a recreated Umuofia village experience. Youth programs, an essay competition, and intimate salon-style discussions are also planned.
The festival continues to serve as a platform for promoting African literature, culture, and identity — connecting Achebe’s timeless influence with the voices of contemporary storytellers like Adichie.
