The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has outlined channels through which Nigerians can report suspected fake, substandard and unregistered medicines, as well as adverse reactions to regulated medical products.
The agency urged consumers to report suspected violations and provide relevant information to support investigations and help identify potential safety concerns.
In a video shared on Saturday, NAFDAC said members of the public who experience unusual or adverse reactions to medicines, vaccines or other regulated medical products can submit reports through the MedSafety application, available on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
Reports can also be sent by email or through the agency’s electronic reporting platform on its official website.
For suspected falsified, fake, substandard or unregistered medicines, NAFDAC advised consumers to use its Greenbook application or the reporting platform available at greenbook.nafdac.gov.ng.
The agency also provided the telephone number 0800-162-3322 for reporting suspected substandard or falsified medical products.
NAFDAC further advised Nigerians to verify the registration status of medicines and other regulated products through its Automated Product Administration and Monitoring System portal at registration.nafdac.gov.ng.
The agency also reminded regulated stakeholders that product recalls must be reported through the appropriate channels. Such notifications should include relevant information, including the product name, registration number, manufacturer, batch number, expiry date, reason for the recall and proposed corrective action.
Members of the public seeking additional information can contact NAFDAC through its official website, nafdac.gov.ng, or call 0700-162-3322.
The agency encouraged Nigerians to provide as much relevant information and supporting evidence as possible when submitting complaints, noting that such reports could help investigations and improve public safety.
