President Bola Tinubu has approved Nigeria’s bid to host the 48th Ordinary General Assembly of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), alongside this year’s CAF Awards Ceremony.
The CAF General Assembly is scheduled to hold in October 2026 and will bring together top football administrators and stakeholders from across Africa.
Tinubu announced the approval during the ongoing Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi, Kenya, after meeting with CAF President, Dr Patrice Motsepe. Also present at the meeting were Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu; President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Musa Gusau; Special Adviser to the CAF President, Amaju Pinnick; and CAF Acting General Secretary, Samson Adamu.
The CAF Ordinary General Assembly is one of African football’s most important gatherings, featuring presidents of CAF’s 54 Member Associations, representatives of the six zonal unions, and other senior football officials across the continent.
Meanwhile, the CAF Awards Ceremony remains one of the continent’s biggest football events, celebrating outstanding players, coaches and football personalities in a glamorous atmosphere.
