Anglican FC overpower Beautiful Tour FC 3–0 in Abuja Nationwide League One Tie

Korede Akintunde in Abuja, May 11, 2026 – Anglican FC today delivered a ruthless attacking display at the Area 3 Football Pitch on matchday 6 action in the ongoing 2026 Nationwide League One (NLO) season, defeating Beautiful Tour FC 3–0 to boost their campaign.

The decisive breakthrough came though when Paul Nandom Ishaya opened the scoring with a towering header giving Anglican FC an early grip of the game while Beautiful Tour FC attempted to respond severally. The Anglican FC remained composed and doubled their advantage through Abutoh Otega, whose well-placed strike from outside the 18-yard box left the goalkeeper with no chance.

With Anglican FC firmly in control, the contest was effectively put beyond reach late on in the second half of the match. A driving run into the danger area saw Martins Francis fouled inside the opponent’s 18-yard box, and the referee pointed to the spot. The Captian of the side, Chibuike Kabala Mgbakabala stepped up and converted the penalty to complete a convincing 3–0 win.

Nigeria’s Nationwide League One (NLO) is widely regarded as the country’s key grassroots competition and forms the third tier of club football, with promotion opportunities for top-performing teams each season. The league notes that up to eight teams can be promoted each year as clubs push toward the professional cadre.

The 2026 edition commenced since April 10 2026, with the Anglican Football Club featuring in 6 matches thus far, having 3 wins, 2 draws and lost one match. Anglican FC currently stands as the second on the Area 3 pitch games with 11 points and two more games to go.

The Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion football team coordinator and Bishop of Offa Diocese, The Rt. Rev’d Olushola Akanbi who was present at the pitch praised the players for a good performance and dedication, sending the Primate of the Church of Nigeria’s congratulatory message to the players and supporters of the team. He noted that the Primate, The Most Rev’d Henry Ndukuba is so delighted to hear of the successes recorded this afternoon by the team urging them to remain focused, disciplined and committed to achieving greater progress into the top tier level. Also present to watch the team are the Church of Nigeria’s Director of Communications, the Ven. Raphael Aderinwale, some members of the football club management including the ACNNTV General Manager, Engr. Korede Akintunde, Team Manager, Mr Kingsley Chime, the Chaplain to the team, Venerable Paul Oluboba, Barr. Alvan Gana, and Mr James Panaki among others.
