The Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria has raised fresh concerns over the country’s worsening security situation, urging Christians to intensify prayers for peace and national stability.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the General Overseer of the church, Sam Aboyeji, made the call during a press conference in Lagos, highlighting the increasing cases of violence, insurgency, and kidnapping across parts of the country.

He noted that the persistent insecurity, particularly in Northern Nigeria, has resulted in loss of lives and the displacement of many communities, describing the situation as deeply troubling.

“These are not just headlines; they represent real lives, families, and futures under threat,” he said, urging Nigerians not to become indifferent to the crisis.

Aboyeji called on Christians across different denominations to rise as intercessors, praying for divine intervention, healing for affected communities, and the restoration of peace in troubled regions.

According to him, the Church has a responsibility to respond not only with compassion but also with spiritual authority in times of national distress.

He also urged continued prayers and support for Nigeria’s armed forces and security agencies, acknowledging their efforts in protecting the country despite the risks involved.

“May God grant them courage, boldness, strategic wisdom, and supernatural protection as they confront those who seek to destabilise our nation,” he added.

The cleric spoke ahead of the church’s 2026 International Conference for Ministers and Leaders, which is expected to attract over 10,000 participants from within Nigeria and abroad.

The conference is scheduled to hold from April 13 to 16, 2026, at the church’s campground along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, with a focus on spiritual growth and leadership development.

Themed “Operating in the Anointing,” the event will feature teachings and ministrations aimed at strengthening Christian leaders and addressing both spiritual and societal challenges.

Aboyeji expressed optimism that through collective prayers and renewed faith, Nigeria would overcome its current security challenges, reaffirming the Church’s commitment to promoting peace, stability, and national development.
