Topic: HERALDS OF THE GOOD NEWS
Text: Luke 24:1-9
24:1 Now on the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they, and certain other women with them, came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had prepared.
24:2 But they found the stone rolled away from the tomb.
24:3 Then they went in and did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.
24:4 And it happened, as they were greatly perplexed about this, that behold, two men stood by them in shining garments.
24:5 Then, as they were afraid and bowed their faces to the earth, they said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead?
24:6He is not here, but is risen! Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee,
24:7 saying, ‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.’ ”
24:8 And they remembered His words.
24:9 Then they returned from the tomb and told all these things to the eleven and to all the rest.
STUDY:
Early on the first day of the week, the women who followed Jesus came to the tomb with spices to anoint His body. They were surprised to find the stone rolled away and the tomb empty. Two angels appeared, saying,”Why do you seek the living among the dead?”“He is not here;He has risen!” and reminded them of Jesus’ words about His resurrection. This pivotal moment transformed their sorrow into joy, as they realised that death has been defeated and hope restored. Then they became heralds of the good news of the resurrection.
The resurrection is the cornerstone of our faith. Jesus triumphed over sin and death, demonstrating God’s power to redeem every situation. The angels’message serves as a powerful reminder that God’s promises are fulfilled, even when circumstances seem bleak. As we reflect on this passage, we must consider the areas in our lives where hope seems lost. Let the joyof the empty tomb fill our hearts and propel us to live boldly in faith, sharing the hope found in Christ. The Bible tells us that those who trust in Christ will share in His resurrection. Go and share the good news. Christ is risen! He is risen indeed!
Prayer:
Lord, thank you for the gift of resurrection and the hope it brings. Help me to share this good news with others. Amen.
