Topic: YOU ARE BLESSED AMIDST ALL ODDS
Text:Luke 6:20-23
6:20 Then He lifted up His eyes toward His disciples, and said: “Blessed are you poor,For yours is the kingdom of God.
6:21 Blessed are you who hunger now, For you shall be filled. Blessed are you who weep now, For you shall laugh.
6:22 Blessed are you when men hate you, And when they exclude you, And revile you, and cast out your name as evil, For the Son of Man’s sake.
6:23 Rejoice in that day and leap for joy!For indeed your reward is great in heaven, For in like manner their fathers did to the prophets.
STUDY:
St. Luke captures the beatitudes (i. e. pronouncement of supreme blessings), in our text today. These are the blessings that follow those who put their total trust in God. For the poor in spirit, theirs is the kingdom of God. To those who now hunger, God shall fill them with good things, and for the weeping, though it endures for a night, joy and laughter shall surely come forth in the morning(Psa.30:5).
Beloved, have you been hated? Are you till now hated, looked down on, mocked and disowned? Listen to the words of our Lord Jesus Christ for you now: “Rejoice and leap for joy, for behold, your rewvard is great in heaven”(v.23). As we go through this year’s Lenten Season, may we be reassured of God’s never-failing promises and presence. You are blessed amidst all odds.
Prayer:
Dear Lord and Father, help me to be strong in you despite the circumstance. Amen.
