In the wake of deadly attacks across parts of Kebbi South, Governor Nasir Idris has revealed plans to establish a Nigerian Army operational base in the Zuru Emirate to strengthen security in the region.

The governor made the disclosure during condolence visits to Tadurga village in Zuru LGA and Kyebu in Danko/Wasagu LGA, where recent bandit raids left several residents dead and livestock carted away.

To support the operation, Governor Idris announced that Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) and other military hardware had been secured from Abuja, with temporary shelter for troops to be provided immediately while a permanent base is being constructed.

He issued a strong warning to individuals acting as informants to criminal groups, stating that the state would push for legal reforms prescribing life imprisonment or death penalty for anyone found guilty of aiding bandits.

Traditional rulers, including the Chief of Danko and the Emir of Zuru, also appealed to the government to scale up military presence along vulnerable border corridors commonly exploited by attackers from neighboring states.
