Members of CMS Nigeria have been encouraged to embrace the love of Christ as a source of strength to navigate life’s challenges and pressures.

This charge was given by the Archdeacon of Agege Archdeaconry in the Anglican Diocese of Lagos West, Ven. Tunde Owoyele, during the society’s 44th-anniversary celebration on Sunday, November 17, at Christ Church, Agege, Lagos.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Lagos Chapter’s Public Relations Officer, Tunji Oguntuase, Owoyele delivered a sermon themed “This is the Lord’s Doing,”urging members to acknowledge Christ as the cornerstone of their lives and to rely on His guidance.

“Some of you are at the twilight of your lives, while others are just beginning. No one knows what tomorrow holds. We are all sojourners on earth. It is unwise to lose sight of your Creator. Regardless of your achievements, a life that does not acknowledge Christ will end in crisis,” he said.

The anniversary, themed “Fight the Good Fight of Faith,” drew participants from across Nigeria, including prominent figures and industry leaders.

Ven. Owoyele commended the society for its Christ-centered identity, encouraging members to find inspiration and perseverance in their faith.

“The name of the Lord is a strong tower. The righteous run into it and are safe. We have no other name but Christ’s. Without Him, we can do nothing,” he declared. He further urged the members to serve God wholeheartedly, saying, “Serve the Lord with all your heart, soul, and body. Hold nothing back. When you give God your all, you will witness His mighty works through you.”

Highlighting the importance of surrendering to God’s will, Ven. Owoyele stated, “Man was created to serve God. Anyone who refuses to surrender to the Lord cannot live a fulfilled life. Love the Lord and walk in His will.”

He reassured members of God’s unwavering support in their journey. “God will fulfill your expectations and will not let you down. Your desires, aligned with His will, will become reality. Stay strong and remain in God,” he said.

In his closing remarks, the cleric emphasized Christlike love in daily interactions. “Do not repay evil with evil. Be like Christ, who loved and prayed for His enemies. Let love be your guiding principle,” he urged.

The event concluded with prayers for the society, asking for God’s protection and safe travels for attendees. A significant highlight was the presentation of the 2024 Presidential Award to Lagos Chapter President, Star Segun Sobowale.

Oguntuase expressed gratitude for the event’s success, describing it as a testament to God’s faithfulness.
