Once again, Covenant University has secured the top rank in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings for 2024.
This achievement underscores the institution’s commitment to excellence, positioning it ahead of other leading universities in Nigeria.
The rankings assessed 1,907 universities across 108 countries, using 18 performance indicators in five key areas: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry, and international outlook.
Covenant University outperformed the University of Ibadan, Federal University of Technology Akure, and University of Lagos, which ranked second, third, and fourth, respectively. The 2024 rankings also reflect shifts in the global higher education landscape, analyzing over 134 million citations from 16.5 million research publications and gathering survey responses from more than 68,000 scholars worldwide.
Other Nigerian universities in the top ten include Bayero University, University of Ilorin, University of Nigeria Nsukka, and Afe Babalola University. The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, also made the list, securing 10th place.
