Harmony and Vision: Diocese of Lagos Mainland Wraps Up Synod

Amidst the global celebration of Father’s Day, the men of the Cathedral Church of St. Peter, Umuokanne, the Headquarters of the Anglican Diocese of Ohaji/Egbema, Imo State, stood out in their own heartfelt commemoration.

Commencing with a Pre-Fathers Day Service on Sunday, June 9th, 2024, the 2024 Fathers Day celebration began. Mr. Ibuchi Stephen led the congregation in song, while Rev. Engr. Michael Iroh, Jp delivered an inspiring sermon. The service was adorned with the lighting of candles, symbolizing the divine light shining into individual lives and homes.

A weeklong series of activities ensued, including fasting and prayers, visitations to members, and revival hours, leading up to the grand finale.

The Fathers Day thanksgiving service took place on Sunday, June 16th, 2024. Rev’d Chigoziem Okechukwu, the Cathedral CMF Chaplain, led the singing, while the Ven. Louis Ogarabe, the Cathedral Administrator & CMF Vice President, delivered a powerful message based on the theme “Epilogue – Invitation to eternal life and warning against eternal condemnation (Rev. 22:12-13).”

He eloquently elaborated on the significance of the passage, emphasizing God’s invitation to sinners and the warnings against eternal condemnation. Drawing parallels from biblical stories of Abraham, Jonah, and Noah, he urged the congregation to heed God’s call for repentance and acceptance of eternal life.

The service was filled with memorable events, including the Fathers’ Anthem, family prayers, and a heartwarming cake-cutting ceremony, presided over by Sir. Engr. Raymond Ogara.

Among the distinguished guests were the Bishop’s wife, Dr. (Mrs) Joy O. Oparaojiaku, Jp, who graced the occasion with a generous gift, and the Eze of Umuokanne Autonomous Community, HRH Eze Sir Mathew Chiedozie Nwokoma and his wife Ugoeze (Dame) Testimony Ijeoma Nwokoma, who joined in the festivities.

The service left a lasting impact on everyone in attendance, filling hearts with blessings and inspiration for the journey ahead.
