A 13-year-old girl has reportedly committed suicide in Warri, Delta State, after being beaten up for engaging in sex.

It was gathered that the teenager, who lived with an elder sister, was seen with a man presumed to be her lover.

Her sister beat her up, and she drank an insecticide and died behind a petrol station, a source said.

“The girl’s elder sister beat her up for having a lover at her age, and she went inside and drank Angle 90, an insecticide,” the source said.

Police spokesman, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya said, “Maybe the matter was not reported to the police.”
