WAEC (West African Examinations Council) has introduced a resit examination option for candidates, offering them a chance to retake their West African Senior Secondary Examinations (WASSCE) papers as early as January and February 2025.
This new initiative represents a major departure from previous years, where students had to wait for the next private exam cycle to resit their exams. John Kapi, WAEC’s Head of Public Affairs, confirmed the development during an interview on JoyNews’ AM Show in Ghana.
Kapi explained, “Students who review their results and find they need to retake one or more papers have until January 8th to register online through our website or at WAEC-accredited internet cafés. The exams will be held from January 24th to February 15th, 2025.”
He also clarified that students with canceled results can still sit for the WASSCE PC1 exams, provided they are not under a malpractice ban.
