Nigerian wrestler, Blessing Oborududu has won the country’s second medal at the ongoing Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.

The Bayelsa-born athlete wrestled her way to win a silver medal for Nigeria, the country’s first silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics.

Delta-born jumper, Ese Brume had earlier won a bronze medal for Nigeria.

Oborududu claimed her silver medal following her loss to USA’s Tamyra Mensah-Stock in the final of the freestyle 68kg event.

She therefore becomes the first Nigerian wrestler to ever win a silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics.

Oborududu qualified for the final showdown after defeating Mongolia’s Soronzonboldyn Battsetseg 7-2 in the semi-finals.
