Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, Chairman of the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee, has accused the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) of avoiding engagement on proposed tax bills.
Oyedele made this allegation during an appearance on Arise News Television on Monday.
He explained that the Governors Forum had invited the committee four times but canceled each meeting. When they finally had an opportunity to meet, they were given only 15 minutes. He added that out of the six governors selected from each of the six geopolitical zones, only Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu attended the meeting.
Oyedele further stated that the tax committee had met with Finance Commissioners, State Internal Revenue Services, 120 clerics, and other stakeholders across Nigeria, refuting claims made by some governors that they were not consulted.
