The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a planned 20-minute interruption of electricity supply in parts of Suleja and surrounding areas on Saturday, September 26, 2026.
The company said the temporary power outage would be carried out as part of its annual preventive maintenance programme on the transmission network.
According to TCN, the maintenance exercise will involve the Gwarinpa–Suleja 132/33kV Line 2 bay switchgear and associated equipment and is scheduled to take place between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.
The affected areas include Suleja Township, FCT College of Education, Field Base, Zuba, Sabon Wuse and other surrounding communities served by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC).
In a statement issued on Friday, TCN explained that the brief interruption would be necessary to enable engineers to safely transfer electricity load from the Gwarinpa–Suleja Line 2 to the Kubwa–Suleja Line 1.
The company said the transfer would allow the maintenance work to be completed without subjecting residents to a prolonged power outage.
“Consequently, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) will experience a 20-minute interruption of power supply only to customers in Suleja Township, FCT College of Education, Field Base, Zuba, Sabon Wuse and environs,” TCN stated.
The transmission company said the planned interruption was required to facilitate the maintenance exercise safely and efficiently.
It explained that transferring the load would allow work to be carried out on the affected equipment while limiting the duration of the disruption to electricity consumers.
TCN apologised to residents and other electricity consumers in the affected areas for the inconvenience the exercise may cause.
The company assured consumers that the maintenance was part of its routine efforts to improve the reliability and stability of the nation’s transmission network.
