The bishop of the Diocese of Lagos West, the Rt Revd Dr. James Odedeji in his easter message to believers titled ‘Celebrating the Lord’s Resurrection’, has called on Christians to be Christ-conscious always with the emphasis to approach all things with eternity in focus.
The bishop noted that despite the economic reality bedeviling Nigerians, believers Should always strive to be on the path of the righteous. He noted that “We are once again in that season of the year when we mark the trial, death, and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ which is indeed worth remembering as a time for self-sacrifice that would open the door to heaven to those who would come to know and follow Him acceptably.
Rt Revd Dr. James Odedeji admonishes all Christians to remember that Christ, the Prince of Peace, reigns and awaits the coming of His true followers. he also noted that It is, therefore, appropriate that Nigerian Christians, after 40 days of self-denial by fasting in the Lenten season, remember that it does not all end here. They should always be Christ-conscious in their actions, whether in public or private life, realizing that God is everywhere.
The bishop urges the Christian community to be reminded of the self-sacrifice of Jesus which brought about the celebration of Easter and so reflect on the fact that only righteousness can exalt a nation, while sin is a reproach.
He called on all leaders and followers alike, to be Christ-like and live as the early believers in Antioch lived.
