The Rivers State Police Command has said its operatives bust a criminal hideout and arrested three suspected kidnappers in Obelle community, Emuoha Local Government Area of the state.

Also, the police said a 37-year-old man identified as Martin Nze was rescued in the kidnappers’ den and his car was recovered.

The command spokesperson, Grace Iringe-koko, disclosed this to newsmen in a statement issued on Wednesday.

Iringe-Koko, a Superintendent of Police, said the command received credible intelligence on the hideout which led to a raid and recoveries, including one single Barrel Dane gun.

The statement read, “On Tuesday 10th January 2023 at about 0800hrs, based on credible intelligence that on Monday 9th January 2023 at about 2030hrs, there were strange movements at Obelle Community in Emohua LGA of Rivers State.

“The Rmumji Police Division mobilized Patrol Teams and raided the uncompleted building that was being used as a criminal hideout.

“Martin Nze (m), 37 of Awka, Anambra State, was rescued, and his car, a Toyota Corolla with the registration number GG 138 FY, was recovered and taken to the station.

“Three of the abductors; Vincent Sunday (m), 25 from Rumuji, Ekene Micheal (m), 29 from Eliozu, and Mohammed Oluwasegun (m), 20 from Ondo State were arrested.

“One Single Barrel Dane Gun was recovered from them. They will be charged in court once ongoing investigations are completed.”

The police spokesperson, however, reaffirmed the commitment of the command to reducing crime and criminality in all its forms to the barest minimum.
