President Tinubu Addresses Abuja-Kaduna Train Derailment, Offers Sympathy to Affected Victims

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed his deep sadness and offered prayers for the victims of the recent Abuja-Kaduna train derailment. 

The president, who received a report on the incident while in Brazil, stated that he is awaiting a full briefing on the situation to ensure a swift and effective response.

“I am staying updated on the latest developments and await a full briefing to ensure swift action and support for all affected,” he said via his X profile.

“The NRC is already addressing the situation, and necessary steps are expected to be taken to prevent similar occurrences in the future.”

The derailment, which occurred on Tuesday, led to the immediate suspension of all train operations on the route by the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC). 

The NRC’s Managing Director, Kayode Opeifa, has taken full responsibility for the incident and assured the public that a thorough investigation is underway and will not be “swept under the carpet.”

President Tinubu’s office conveyed his commitment to taking the necessary steps to prevent similar occurrences in the future and to provide all needed support to the injured passengers and their families.
