In light of the recent violent events, including the tragic killings in Mafia village, Tarmuwa Local Government Area of Yobe State, former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has called attention to the failing security architecture in Nigeria.
Obi emphasized that the ongoing violence, maiming, and displacement of innocent Nigerians are clear signs that the nation’s current security measures are inadequate. He urged the Nigerian government to confront this reality head-on and implement bold measures to tackle insecurity.
In a Saturday post on his X handle, Obi expressed profound sadness over the horrific incident and stressed that it underscores the urgent need for a fundamental change in the nation’s approach to security. “The devastating news from Mafia Village serves as a stark reminder of our critical security situation and the need for a major shift in strategy,” he said.
Obi further asserted, “The relentless attacks and suffering of innocent people highlight the failure of our current security framework. We must acknowledge this and take decisive action to combat insecurity before it overwhelms us completely.”
