The incumbent governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, has technically been reelected for a second term.
He has swept the polls in the 17 local government areas of the state already announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission as of 3:27 pm.
The constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 as amended requires a governor of a state to win in two-thirds of the total local government areas of the state for him to be declared.
Anambra has 21 local government areas.
