The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brig. Gen. YD Ahmed, on Sunday, paid a visit to a corps member, Elvis Udodiri, who was shot during the last general elections when he worked as an ad hoc official of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
According to a statement on Sunday by the Director of Press and Public Relations, NYSC, Eddy Megwa, the DG visited Udodiri, who was still on admission at the Ibom Hospital in Uyo, Akwa-Ibom State.
The corps member was reportedly shot in the leg by political thugs at Ikot Eduek Itak, in the Ikono Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State during the House of Assembly rerun election.
Ahmed, during his visit, commended the hospital management for the effective treatment being offered to the corps member, while he prayed for his quick recovery.
“The Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr Ini Etukudo, expressed delight at the fatherly disposition of the NYSC Director General’s visit to the corps member, while he promised the readiness of the hospital to provide effective medical care for the gunshot victim,” the statement read.
Responding, Udodiri told the DG that his condition had improved tremendously.
He also appreciated the hospital management, the NYSC Director General, and the State Coordinator of the NYSC in Akwa-Ibom State, among others, for their support, and expressed hope that he would soon be on his feet again.
