The Police in Niger have urged residents of the state to support the command with useful and timely information to get rid of criminals.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr Dibal Yaradi, made the call while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna on Wednesday.
Yaradi said criminal activities in the state would only be curbed if residents volunteered information to the police on any suspicious persons or acts in their environment.
“Stakeholders should support and partner with the police by providing useful information that will lead to crime bursting.
“Already, the command has reached out to traditional and religious leaders in mobilising residents to be security conscious by reporting dubious characters in their midst.
“We will enhance community policing to enable residents to come forward with intelligence information that will aid us in apprehending criminal elements,’’ he said.
The commissioner called on parents to monitor the conduct of their children as anyone found wanting would be severely deal with.
“Any youth caught in any secret act or terrorising the residents will face the law.
” Our primary role is to secure lives and property of residents and we have set in motion security modalities that will deal with any form of security threats,’’ Yaradi said.
He called on officers and men of the command to continue to put in their best as hard working ones would be rewarded.
