The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has initiated a formal investigation following the viral circulation of a video showing a female traveler damaging a Nigerian Standard Passport at Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos.

The individual in question has been identified as Mrs. Favour Igiebor, who holds passport number A11990869.

In a statement, Kenneth Udo, the Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Immigration Service, announced that the Comptroller General of Immigration has instructed that Mrs. Igiebor be summoned for further questioning.

Should the allegations be confirmed, her actions could be considered a violation of Section 10(b) of the Immigration Act 2015 (as amended), with penalties specified under Section 10(h) of the same Act.

Udo emphasized that the Nigeria Immigration Service is committed to enforcing the Immigration Act to ensure national security and uphold the integrity of the nation’s legal documents.
