A ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah is now in effect, raising hopes for a permanent halt to Israeli attacks on Lebanon and an end to over a year of cross-border hostilities.
U.S. President Joe Biden stated that the agreement entails Israeli forces withdrawing from Lebanon within 60 days, while the Lebanese army will take control of southern territories to prevent Hezbollah from rebuilding its military presence.
In Gaza, Israeli strikes have resulted in numerous deaths, including 13 individuals sheltering in a school in the Zeitoun neighborhood of Gaza City. Since October 7, 2023, Israel’s actions have claimed at least 44,249 Palestinian lives and left 104,746 injured. On the same day, Hamas-led attacks in Israel killed 1,139 people and led to over 200 captives.
In Lebanon, Israeli attacks have caused at least 3,823 deaths and 15,859 injuries since the escalation in Gaza began.
