Gospel Filmmaker and Producer, Reverend Yemi Adepoju, has commended the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) for its decision to sever ties with the Church of England following the appointment of Dame Sarah Mullally.

In an exclusive interview with Gospel Film News, Adepoju stated that the move was not surprising, noting that the Nigerian Anglican Church has historically maintained a steadfast position on the authority of Scripture and the established teachings of the Christian faith.

He clarified that their decision to distance themselves from the Church of England is motivated by a deep conviction and fidelity to the Word of God, rather than by hatred or intolerance.

Citing multiple passages from the Bible, Adepoju underscored that Scripture unequivocally outlines God’s design for marriage and human sexuality.

He specifically referenced Genesis 2:24 and Matthew 19:4-6, explaining that the institution of marriage is fundamentally between a man and a woman, stressing that the first union was “between him and her, not between him and him nor her and her,” and specifically between Adam and Eve, not “Adam and Daniel.”

Adepoju further emphasized that all believers are called to maintain holiness in every aspect of life, citing 1 Peter 1:15-16.

While acknowledging that all people are loved by God (John 3:16), he stressed that the Bible, which serves as the roadmap for all Christians, does not endorse same-sex relationships, referencing Romans 1:26–27 and 1 Corinthians 6:9–11.

The Reverend stressed the critical importance of balancing compassion and conviction, urging people to speak the truth in love.

He concluded by stating that while he respects the right of individuals to make their own choices, Christians must not compromise fundamental biblical principles.

He urged Christians to work to preserve the integrity of the gospel message (Galatians 1:8-9) and the moral foundations of the Christian faith.
