Interviewer: How would you describe your time as a Bishop?
Bishop Enwuchola: I’d describe it as a short-term episcopacy. I was consecrated in September 2022, and with retirement set at 70, I’ll be stepping down this September. So, it comes to almost exactly four years of service.
Interviewer: How has the experience been for you?
Bishop Enwuchola: Though brief, it’s been deeply rewarding and, at times, quite demanding. I’m truly grateful to God for the opportunity to serve. Being a Bishop carries significant responsibility, but it also comes with the privilege of shaping lives and shepherding God’s people with care and intention.
Interviewer: What stood out most during your years in office?
Bishop Enwuchola: Seeing lives transformed through discipleship and ministry. By God’s grace, people are being drawn into His Kingdom. To serve at this level, partnering with God in His work of reconciliation and helping people grow closer to Him, is a real honour.
Interviewer: As you look towards retirement, what will you miss the most?
Bishop Enwuchola: One thing I’ll especially miss is this annual gathering. It’s a time to reconnect, to share experiences, and to be inspired anew. The fellowship and the teaching here strengthen us. You leave with fresh energy and a clearer vision to carry God’s purpose back to your diocese.
Interviewer: Why are gatherings like this so important?
Bishop Enwuchola: They help us align our personal calling with the wider vision of the Church. That alignment matters. It reminds us that we’re part of something larger than ourselves. It’s a privilege to be involved in a mission that transforms lives and draws people closer to God. A mission that truly matters.
Interviewer: Some might feel four years is a short time for such a role. How do you see it?
Bishop Enwuchola: Even when the time is short, much can still be accomplished. We often wish we had more time to complete our plans or fully see our vision realised, but God gives us exactly the time we need to do His work. What matters is faithfulness, doing what we can wholeheartedly and with gratitude. The work doesn’t end with any one person. Others will come and build on what has already been started.
Interviewer: Any final thoughts as you prepare to step down?
Bishop Enwuchola: Holding firmly to the vision God entrusts to us is essential. Our responsibility is to pursue it with faithfulness and humility, and to trust Him completely with the outcome.

Bishop Benjamin Enwuchola was enthroned as the 3rd Bishop of Otukpo Diocese, Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion on the 23rd September, 2022.
