A former Governor of Oyo State, High Chief Rashidi Ladoja, has officially been installed as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadan on September 26, 2025, in a grand ceremony attended by national dignitaries.

The installation rites culminated when the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, presented the Staff of Office to the new monarch.

The symbolic presentation took place at approximately 3:08 p.m. at the historic Mapo Hall in Ibadan, the state capital.

Oba Ladoja received the instrument of authority in the presence of a gathering of Nigeria’s political and traditional elite, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, multiple state governors, former governors, and a large assembly of traditional and religious leaders.

The successful completion of the installation follows a clear and consensus-driven ascension process within the Ibadan chieftaincy system, formally concluding the mourning period for the late monarch.
