Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has expressed profound sorrow and lamented the passing of Ferdinand Agu, the former Director-General of the National Maritime Authority, now known as the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).
In his heartfelt tribute, Governor Mbah underscored Agu’s invaluable contributions to both the state and the nation, emphasizing the irreplaceable void left by his departure. Agu’s legacy, according to Governor Mbah, extends far beyond his professional accomplishments, resonating deeply within the maritime sector and beyond.
In a message personally penned and signed by Governor Mbah, he conveyed his heartfelt condolences, acknowledging the late Ferdinand Agu as a stalwart in boardroom expertise and technocratic proficiency. Governor Mbah lauded Agu’s unwavering commitment to the advancement and progress of both Enugu State and Nigeria, recognizing his dedicated efforts towards their growth and development.
Mbah conveyed deep sorrow at the abrupt demise of Ferdinand Agu, MFR, a loss that he admitted struggling to fully grasp. He hailed Agu as a prominent figure from Enugu State, lauding his qualities as a gentleman, brilliant thinker, adept administrator, political strategist, proficient technocrat, and modest achiever, all of which he selflessly dedicated to serving Nigeria.
“As a former Director-General of the defunct National Maritime Authority, NMA, now NIMMASA, as well as former Senior Special Assistant to the President between 2011 and 2015, he contributed immensely to the development of our nation and state. Therefore, he will always remain in our thoughts.
“I send heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, the people of Enugu State, and indeed to his friends and associates across the country and beyond.
“May God grant him eternal repose.”
