The Primate of All Nigeria, Anglican Communion, His Grace, the Most Reverend Henry Ndukauba, on Monday in Abuja enjoined Christians to expect greater manifestation of the power and glory of God at the 10th Divine Commonwealth Conference of the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion (DIVCCON).

In an interview to herald the 4-day event, which commenced on Sunday in Abuja, the Primate urged Christians to  hold on tight to their faith, endure the present hardship, never compromise because  ‘‘the prevailing difficulties cannot be compared to the Glory that God will reveal.’’

Declaring that believers must hold to God, who has a better plan, a future hope for all who believe in him, the Primate said: ‘‘We are overcomers,’’ referencing the global upheavals and conflicts in Nigeria.

‘‘The whole world is earnestly waiting to see how we can overcome given what we have passed through and what we are passing through but we are more than conquerors in Christ Jesus.

‘‘I see the Church of God emerging stronger through all the trials and tribulations in this era, which has been declared ‘A decade of the reign of God’.

‘‘On a personal note, I am full of great expectations and looking forward to great fellowship with Christian brethren. I am excited to find out what God will teach through his servants.

‘‘I expect great uplifting, greater manifestation of the power and glory of God, demonstration of signs and apostolic faith using ordinary people to do extra-ordinary things not just for the Church but for the whole world,’’ he said.

On the Coronavirus pandemic, the EndSARS protests and other issues, which have cropped up this year in the country, Primate Ndukauba said: ‘‘It is only natural that the faith of many will grow cold.  Therefore, it is important to hold such events as DIVCCON, an assembly of not only Anglicans but Christians, believers in Christ to re-assure ourselves, to hold each other up, to keep the heavenly vision in view.

‘‘We must remember situations change but the word of God remains permanent from age to age. Roman 8 tells us that the Lord is laying out things for Himself; we must trust and walk with Him always.

‘‘At DIVCCON, we will encourage one another, rekindle the flame of our faith, stir up the fire in our hearts so that we will continue to love the Lord and become better.’’

The Primate explained that DIVCCON was purposefully initiated to aid spiritual growth.

He, noted that DIVCCON is not an ordinary meeting, stressing ‘‘It is a God given vision, which he laid in the heart of our father, former Archbishop Nicholas Okoh, to bring people together to encourage one another, sharpen and strengthen our faith.  It is an Anglican Church event but it is open to the church. With the situation in the country, we need to come together to aid spiritual growth because “ iron sharpened iron’’.

He assured that not only the church but the country would be much better for it.
