Plans are underway at the National Hospital Abuja to create an exclusive VIP section tailored for presidents, governors, top government officials, and other distinguished individuals.
On Thursday, Prof. Mahmud Raji, the Chief Medical Director, announced the development, which will include a luxury residential facility comparable to a five-star or even seven-star hotel.
This new VIP section will boast state-of-the-art amenities, including a unique toxicology lab, a feature not currently available in any public health facility. This lab will be crucial for emergency testing of poisons in food or the environment. The section will also house specialized units such as a renal clinic for kidney transplants, a cardiac center, an orthopedic center, and a neuroscience institute dedicated to both training and clinical services.
Prof. Raji also noted the hospital’s advancements in manpower, equipment, and infrastructure, reflecting significant progress since its establishment in 1999. To mark its 25th anniversary, the hospital will host a symposium and a gala night.
He further emphasized that many Nigerians remain unaware of the high-quality medical services available domestically, which often leads them to seek treatment abroad.
