Diocese on the Niger Honors Students of Diocesan Schools with Excellent Results in the 2024 UTME

Under the visionary leadership of His Lordship, The Rt. Rev. Dr. Owen Chiedozie Nwokolo, the Diocese on the Niger has instituted the Episcopal Educational Merit Award, a prestigious recognition for exceptional Students of Schools owned and managed by the Diocese on the Niger who are outstanding in their UTME(JAMB).

The award is aimed at encouraging academic diligence, excellence, hard work among students and emphasizing the Diocese’s commitment to quality education.

An insightful and inspiring yet challenging keynote speech was delivered during the event by His Lordship, Rt. Rev. Dr. Owen Chiedozie Nwokolo who congratulated the awardees and encouraged them to continue striving for excellence. Bishop Owen frowned at the decadence in the educational system and vowed that the Diocese will continue to uphold strict standards and values in education.

Going down memory lane the Bishop traced the pioneering role of the Diocese on the Niger in education as the Diocese was the first to start up Primary, Secondary and Tertiary institutions in this part of the world.

The awardees were presented with Certificates, Books and Cash gifts by His Lordship, accompanied by his wife, Dr. (Mrs.) Elsie Nonyelum Nwokolo (Mama Niger)

A total of 22 students from some Diocesan owned and managed schools who scored 270 and above in the 2024 UTME were present to receive the award for their academic excellence. They are:

The Bishop charged the awardees to uphold the diligence and integrity which they have imbibed while in school as Diocesan Education Ambassadors and strive for greater academic feats.
