The Bishop on the Niger, the Rt Rev. Dr Owen Nwokolo, has said that the unprecedented outbreak of the Corona virus now rocking the entire world and its apparent intractable management is an evidence of God’s omnipotent supremacy over creation.
According to the bishop, that the pandemic has since its upsurge defiled all known medical and technological breakthroughs is enough to prove the supremacy of God’s power and knowledge over man’s.
Making the exposition in an interview in his office at the Episcopal House, Ozalla Road, Onitsha, Bishop Nwokolo said that if a single virus could so jolt the entire people of the world within a short time, then the full degree of God’s eternal judgement and corresponding punishment should therefore be imagined.
He called on humanity to see the virus as a divine warning to those who he said have unwarily extolled science and technology far and above God.
“In recent time, because of successive breakthroughs in science and technology; in space explorations, in communications, successes in health technology and military wares and so on, man thought he has arrived and so relegated God, taking technology as his God.
“Now science and technology has apparently failed him, rubbishing all his so-called wisdom, thus reminding him that the totality of his knowledge is absolutely finite and foolish before God”, the bishop explained and appealed to the entire people of the world to consciously rethink their present disposition towards God.
While calling on humanity to retrace and turn towards God, he passionately prayed God to show mankind His divine mercy by graciously withdrawing the virus which he described as a deadly plague.
On the recent partial lifting of the ban on movement in Anambra State by the government, Bishop Nwokolo thanked the Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, for the initiative but advised people in the state not to abuse the gesture by conducting themselves in ways he said that might run counter to the current fight against the pandemic.
He reminded the people of the need to always wear face masks when outside, wash their hands with soap as well as apply hand sanitizers regularly.
