As the Church of Uganda looks forward to the Children’s Ministry Focus Month in November 2026, the Directorate of Education – Children’s Ministry Department held a partnership discussion meeting with the Open World Foundation at the Provincial Secretariat on 6th October 2026.
Open World Foundation is a Ugandan non-profit organisation registered in 2023, dedicated to transforming the lives of vulnerable communities through interventions in health, education and livelihoods.
The meeting provided an opportunity to explore areas of collaboration between the Church of Uganda and Open World Foundation, particularly in strengthening support for vulnerable and disadvantaged children.
Speaking during the meeting, Rev. Richard Rukundo, Provincial Coordinator, shared about the work of the Directorate of Education and Children’s Ministry in reaching vulnerable children across Uganda. These include children in refugee settlements, orphanages, children with disabilities, and children requiring psychosocial support.
The Children’s Ministry Focus Theme for November 2026 is:
“Anchored in Christ: Investing in Children Today for a United, Peaceful and Stable Church and Nation Tomorrow.” Ephesians 2:14–17
The Focus Month provides an opportunity for the Church to renew its commitment to children and young people, strengthen local ownership and resource mobilisation, build strategic partnerships, and promote programmes that support the spiritual, physical, emotional, social and educational wellbeing of children.
On behalf of Open World Foundation, Ms Grace Namatovu, the Program Team Lead, expressed the Foundation’s commitment to supporting especially vulnerable children in urban communities. She highlighted potential support through scholarships, scholastic materials and menstrual hygiene needs, among other areas of intervention.
The meeting discussed opportunities for collaboration between the Church of Uganda and Open World Foundation is expected to contribute to reaching more vulnerable children and strengthening community-based support systems.
The discussions concluded with a shared commitment by Rev. Richard Rukundo and the Open World Foundation team to work together recognising that it is important to invest in children today for a better tomorrow.
