As part of the nomination process for the next Archbishop of Canterbury, the Church of England has launched a public consultation inviting input from around the Anglican Communion. The consultation runs from February 7 to March 28.

The consultation is an opportunity to gather the views of a wide range of people from across the Anglican Communion on the gifts, qualities and skills needed in the 106th Archbishop of Canterbury. Those who take part will also be able to submit names for the Crown Nominations Commission (CNC) to consider.

Speaking about the process, The Secretary General of the Anglican Communion, The Rt Reverend Anthony Poggo said:

“The office of the Archbishop of Canterbury has an important international dimension as a focus of unity in the life of the Anglican Communion. It is a personal and pastoral leadership role, with historic significance. It seeks to listen, serve and encourage Anglican churches globally in Christian witness. I pray for the discernment process of the Crown Nominations Commission and welcome the public consultation. I know it will provide a communion-wide opportunity for Anglicans to share their views on the gifts and qualities they deem important for the 106th Archbishop of Canterbury. May the findings be wisely and prayerfully considered.”
