A former spokesman for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Olisa Metuh, has asked a Federal High Court to allow former President Goodluck Jonathan appear in court as a witness.

It is the second application by Metuh’s lead counsel, Onyeachi Ikpeazu, for witnesses to appear in court.

Metuh is standing trial for illegally receiving N400 million from the office of the national security adviser, Col Sambo Dasuki, who also being held for allegedly misappropriating more than $2 billion (£1.3bn) meant to buy weapons for the military to fight Islamic militant Boko Haram.

However, Metuh has repeatedly said he was not aware of the source of the funds released to him for running the 2015 presidential campaign of the PDP.

Metuh, through his lawyer, Ikpeazu, said he was committed to the anti-corruption fight of President Muhammadu Buhari and was ready to return the said money to the Federal Government.

The Court of Appeal on September 29 authorised the appearance of former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, to also testify in the case.

Dasuki was however absent in court on Monday.
