A thanksgiving service for the election, consecration, and enthronement of His Lordship, The Rt. Rev Kingsley Chukwukamadu Obuh, was held at St. Mark’s Anglican Church, Ubulu Uku, the headquarters of Ubulu Uku Archdeaconry, the home Church of the Bishop, and His wife Mrs. Comfort Nkechinyere Obuh.

Thanking God for the life of Bishop Obuh his family, and the good people of Asaba Diocese; The Rt. Rev. David Friday Amaechi Obiosa, the Lord Bishop of Ndokwa Diocese, who took the sermon, appreciated God almighty who has made today a reality in the history of Asaba Diocese, and for a successful and peaceful transition into a new Bishopric under the leading of Holy Spirit, of which coincidentally, today also is a Pentecost day.

Bishop Obiosa said that Pentecost was preceded by the instructions of Jesus to the apostles to wait in a place, and they obeyed, so in like manner, was the see of Asaba Diocese vacant, and the people of Asaba also waited upon God in prayers, and at the appointed time, the election came, and The Rt. Rev Kingsley Chukwukamadu Obuh was chosen. He attributed this choice of God, to have metamorphosed by the prayers of brethren and people waiting upon God to make His choice, not by man’s understanding, but by Divinity.

Reading, from the account, read in the second lesson, 1Corr. 1:18-31, Bishop Obiosa noted that the selection of Kingsley Obuh is an act of grace, he may not have been the best by human standard, but God’s choice is not questionable, for the foolishness of God is wiser than the wisdom of man.

He emphasized that the work of a Bishop is not an easy task, but to whom God chose, He will equip, therefore there are full assurances of God’s strength upon Bishop Obuh and his wife, to do that which they have been assigned and called to do.

The Thanksgiving service was also attended by His Lordship, The Rt. Rev Godfrey Ifeanyi Ekpenisi, the Bishop of Ika Diocese, who took the Thanksgiving Prayers of Bishop Obuh and the family, His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Delta State who was ably represented by, Sir Engr. Lawrence Chukwuka Ejiofor, the Honourable Commissioner for Arts & Culture Delta State, The Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevweri, the Speaker, DTSHA represented by Rt. Hon Ochor Chris Ochor, the Deputy Speaker of DTSHA, Ezinne Joy Enwa, the Accountant General of Delta State, HRM Obi Nuel Chukwuka Akaeze 11, the Obi of Ubulu Uku kingdom, Sir Jonathan Monye, the President General of Ubulu Uku Development Union, and other dignitaries too numerous to mention.

On his part, the Rt. Rev. Kingsley Chukwukamadu Obuh on behalf of his family, thanked God for the journey of life so far, which he described as having so many parts, but he was optimistic to appreciate all his guests, most especially his wife Mrs. Comfort Nkechinyere Obuh, who at a very pronounced period in the journey of their marriage life and ministries had to play the dual roles of a Mother and Father for their Children while the Bishop was away for studies.

The Bishop noted in his testimony that the journey started in 1992 in St. Mark’s Anglican Church, Ubulu Uku, when he gave his life to Christ, after listening to the first sermon preached by now Rev Canon Gabriel Odiaka as a catechist from the old pulpit of the Church. He narrated that his becoming a Bishop was designed by God, considering the conditions spelled out in the amendment of the constitution of the Church of Nigeria, which mandated 15years post priesthood ordination and 45yrs of age as a prerequisite to be nominated to the office of a Bishop, this he said if he had not given his life to Christ, as at that day in 1992 when he heard the sermon of catechist Odiaka, he may not have qualified, and again that he turned 45yrs exactly the time the see of Asaba Diocese became vacant, this he said was God’s hands of actualizing His purpose in action.

The highlights of the service were the special renditions by the host choir, and the visiting choir of Cathedral Church of St Peter Bishopscourt, Asaba, the moments of praise and Thanksgiving section for Bishop Obuh and family, a special number by his Lordship, and the presentation of a brand new SUV TOYOTA HIGHLANDER 2014 MODEL JEEP, to His Lordship by the leadership of Ubulu Uku Development Union, on behalf of Ubulu Uku community.
