The women of the Diocese of Lagos West, Anglican Communion have been urged to be upright, life builders, life changers and influential mothers to their families and the society at large.Â
This clarion call was made by the Lord Bishop of the Diocese of Lagos West, The Rt. Revd. Dr. James Olusola Odedeji at the 23rd Mothers’ Union Enrolment Service held on Sunday 14th May, 2023, at the Archbishop Vining Memorial Church Cathedral AVMCC, Ikeja, Lagos State, Nigeria.
In his sermon, Bishop Odedeji described a woman as a very important vessel of honour to the world, he said “they are not only legal medium for any human being to come to the world, but also powerful in a home” he stressed that, “When they stand to make their purpose, they are not only mothers, they are destiny holders, bridge builders, life instructors, glory builders and life changers.”
He warned that when mothers fail in their responsibilities, the whole world will be in trouble. He also emphasized that a mother could either be a blessing or a curse to her children, and therefore warned that, house maids cannot and should not take up the positions of mothers in any home.
The Bishop called on mothers to wake up, stressing that anybody can be a woman and wife but not everybody can be a mother. Bishop Odedeji added by saying that parents should try and raise their children the same way Timothy’s parents raised him as contained in the book of 2nd Timothy Chapter 1. He advised Mothers to produce bright future for their children so as to avoid destroying their glorious future.
