In an important update, the Edo Government has announced that all public and private schools in the state will resume the 2024/25 academic session on September 30.
This decision comes after the initial resumption date was postponed from September 9, 2024.
In a statement released on Sunday in Benin, Ojo Akin-Longe, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, cautioned against a false notification circulating about schools reopening on Monday.
He urged parents and guardians to disregard this misleading information. The permanent secretary stated, “We refer to the earlier announcement postponing the resumption of all public and private schools in Edo State, which was originally scheduled for Monday, September 9, 2024. We are aware of a subsequent false notification indicating that schools should resume on Monday, September 23, 2024.
“We wish to clarify that this announcement did not originate from the Edo State Government and is the work of mischief-makers. This information is false and should be ignored. The Edo State Government hereby directs that all public and private schools in the state will now resume for the 2024/25 academic session on Monday, September 30, 2024. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.”
