About 10 directors in the Federal Capital Territory Administration who have spent over eight years in office have failed to proceed on mandatory retirement almost one month after the newly revised Public Service Rules became operational. The directors were said to have spent between nine and 12 years on the directorate cadre and were required to turn in their letter of retirement in compliance with the PSR which took effect from July 27, 2023. The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria has accused the Minister of Art, Culture and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa of serving as a minister while undertaking the one-year mandatory National Youth Service Corps scheme. The military is currently conducting a mass burial for personnel who died during an ambush and air crash in Niger State. Bandits had ambushed the troops in Niger State on August 14, 2023, killing 14 soldiers while seven were injured. The incident necessitated the deployment of the Nigeria Air Force evacuation aircraft. The Lagos State Police Command on Wednesday arraigned a tractor driver, Isiaka Abdullahi, for allegedly damaging the property of two businessmen worth N320m in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State. The 72-year-old man was arraigned before Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun of Yaba Magistrates’ Court on four counts of wilful damage. Abdulahi was alleged to have driven his tractor into the Mile 13 Owode Elede Market in Ikorodu and destroyed bananas and other properties and goods belonging to Garba Mohammed and Adewale Teluwo.
