The Archbishop of Ondo Province and the Diocese of Akure Diocese of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, The Most Rev’d Simeon Borokini, has called on President Tinubu to appoint people with integrity and fear of God in his cabinet as the nation awaits the list of ministerial appointees.
The Archbishop said there were lots of challenges facing the country, hence the need for the President to have people with impeccable characters to work with, to bring the country out of challenges.
Archbishop Borokini gave the advice at the 2023 Bishop’s Charge delivered to the second session of the 14th Synod of the church held at Oba Ile in Akure North Local Government Area of the state. The synod was themed, ‘Do your best for the Lord.”
The bishop said, “We rejoice with him (Tinubu) that his dream and ambition to lead this country came to pass. However, we want him to remember his campaign promises to Nigerians and not relent on all these promises of his to the country. The president should be magnanimous in victory by extending hands of fellowship to those that contested keenly with him in the last election.
“He should settle down fast and gather the best of the brains we have in the country so as to put an end to the various problems and challenges facing the country once and blessed nation with both human and natural resources, and he for all.”
He added that Nigeria is a blessed nation with both human and natural resources and “he (Tinubu) should therefore ensure that in his time as the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of this great and dear country, the following are properly dealt with Insecurity, banditry and kidnapping., incessant strikes action in our higher institution of learning as well as indiscipline and corruption at all levels, youth unemployment among others.
The Archbishop noted that as a Church, “our prayers are continually with him for greater success.”
