Trinity XXI
TOPIC: A PURPOSE-DRIVEN LIFE
TEXT: 2 Corinthians 5:6-15(NKJV)
5:6. So [we are] always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord.
5:7. For we walk by faith, not by sight.
5:8. We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.
5:9. Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him.
5:10. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things [done] in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.
5:11. Knowing, therefore, the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are well known to God, and I also trust are well known in your consciences.
5:12. For we do not commend ourselves again to you, but give you opportunity to boast on our behalf, that you may have [an answer] for those who boast in appearance and not in heart.
5:13. For if we are beside ourselves, [it is] for God; or if we are of sound mind, [it is] for you.
5:14. For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died;
5:15. and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.
STUDY:
If we must withstand the present challenge of our Christian faith, we urgently need to deepen our personal relationship with God. The Christian faith is life and demands all from a believer. Divided loyalty is not part of the system. Apostle Paul was not afraid to die because he was confident of where he would spend eternity (vv. 6-8). The hope of eternal life should give every believer the confidence and inspiration to do faithful service. It is equally important for every one of us to know that we will be subjected to judgment and there will be rewards and consequences for our actions. Jesus has died for us; we are no longer expected to live for ourselves but for him who died and rose again (v.15). Take your position. Do not gamble with your life, especially as it concerns your journey of faith. Establish an intentional method of building your Christian faith. Allow God to occupy the first position in your life. Don’t restrict Jesus to being only the Savior of your life; also allow him to be the Lord of it. Let your life be purpose-driven.
PRAYER:
Take my life and let it be, consecrated Lord to thee.
