TOPIC: REDEMPTIVE POWER

TEXT: Ephesians 1:3-14(NKJV)

  • 1:3. Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly [places] in Christ,
  • 1:4. just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love,
  • 1:5. having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will,
  • 1:6. to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He has made us accepted in the Beloved.
  • 1:7. In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace
  • 1:8. which He made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence,
  • 1:9. having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself,
  • 1:10. that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth — in Him.
  • 1:11. In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will,
  • 1:12. that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory.
  • 1:13. In Him you also [trusted,] after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,
  • 1:14. who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.

STUDY:

On Trinity Sunday, we are reminded of the indivisible nature of God – the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit – working harmoniously to accomplish our redemption. Today’s passage provides a profound understanding of the work of the Trinity in our salvation.

Apostle Paul explained the glorious spiritual blessings that believers have received through their union with Christ which include redemption, the forgiveness of sins, being sealed with the promised Holy Spirit and an inheritance that goes beyond earthly possessions (vv. 4-7).

Truly, our salvation is an overflowing expression of God’s love and mercy, made possible by the work of the Trinity (vv. $11&14)$. The implications of this passage for us believers today are profound and transformative. First, we are called to live in constant gratitude and praise to God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit for his immeasurable blessings.

Second, we are encouraged to embrace our identity as chosen and beloved children of God. This truth should motivate us to live the lives that reflect our new nature, pursuing holiness and striving to be a light in the world. Also, as believers, we are empowered by the Holy Spirit to fulfil our God-given purposes and to live as witnesses for Christ.

PRAYER:

Almighty God, help us to continually live and walk in the fullness of your blessings of redemption, Amen!
