TOPIC: PREACHING CHRIST CRUCIFIED

TEXT: 1 Corinthians 1:18-25(NKJV)

1:18. For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

1:19. For it is written: “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, And bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.”

1:20. Where [is] the wise? Where [is] the scribe? Where [is] the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?

1:21. For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.

1:22. For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom;

1:23. but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness,

1:24. but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.

1:25. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

STUDY:

Every preacher is meant to prepare what he is to preach and this includes how to present the message to sound convincing. To achieve this, such a preacher must first believe what he preaches about Christ. Paul was bold to preach Christ crucified despite how some perceived it – a stumbling block to the Jews and foolishness to the Greeks (v.23).

Of the Trinity, Christ is the most misunderstood. It takes skill and understanding to know how to present him to people. To the unbeliever, it may sound foolish. To the believer, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God(v.24). As a preacher, you must be knowledgeable and bold enough to present Christ convincingly to an unbeliever.

To achieve this, you must study the Scripture and imbibe its teachings (2 Tim.2:15, KJV). You must also pray fervently and ask for the help of the Holy Spirit. Academic knowledge alone or ability to speak well may not be enough to achievel purpose of reaching men with the Gospel of Christ.

How do you prese Christ to those around you or your circle of friends, using even the soci media? Don’t be ashamed to talk about Christ! Be bold like Paul proclaim Christ no matter the audience or circumstances.

PRAYER:

Lord, please give me the boldness to always preach Christ t everyone. Amen!
