Ahead of the crucial quarter-final clash between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Palancas Negras of Angola, the principal officers of the National Assembly will visit Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, to cheer on the Nigerian team at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON.
The Super Eagles are billed to face Angola’s Palancas Negras in a quarterfinal clash at the ongoing 34th AFCON in Côte d’Ivoire today 2 February 2024.
The Senate Committee on Sports chairman, Senator Kawu Sumaila, stated this while addressing journalists on Thursday in Abuja.
The Super Eagles defeated the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon during the round of 16 to qualify for the quarterfinals at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium.
The Senator said, apart from the principal officers, members of the National Assembly joint committees on sports will also travel to Abidjan to support the Super Eagles.
Kawu said, “I am happy with the performance of the Nigerian team at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations.
“The principal officers of the National Assembly and the two Committees on Sports will also be in Cote d’Ivoire to watch the quarter-finals with Angola.”
