Access Bank Alerts Customers: Temporary Service Disruption Ahead

Access Bank has announced a temporary service shutdown for a system upgrade designed to enhance its customer offerings. In an email to customers on Tuesday, the bank outlined that the upgrade will be implemented in phases, starting on Saturday, October 12, at 10 PM and concluding on Sunday, October 13, at 6:30 AM.

During this period, customers may experience brief disruptions on the Access More app, Internet Banking, and ATMs.

The message to customers read, “Dear Valued Customer, as part of our ongoing commitment to serve you better, we are undertaking a comprehensive system upgrade to optimize our operations. The upgrade will be phased, beginning Saturday, October 12, at 10 PM and ending Sunday, October 13, 2024, at 6:30 AM (West African Time).”

The bank reassured customers that their cards will remain functional and that the *901# service will still be available for funds transfers, airtime and data purchases, and bill payments. “While there may be temporary service disruptions on the Access More app, Internet Banking, and ATMs, your cards will work seamlessly, and *901# will be accessible for transactions during this period.”

Access Bank stated that services across all channels will be fully restored following the completion of the upgrade. The bank also emphasized its commitment to keeping customers informed about future phases of this upgrade.

Additionally, The PUNCH reports that the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria and the Body of Banks’ Chief Executive Officers have voiced concerns regarding ongoing criticisms of Nigerian banks on social media. The Central Bank of Nigeria has reiterated its dedication to the stability of the financial system, noting that regular stress tests are conducted to identify potential vulnerabilities in banks.
