A chieftain of the apex Igbo socio-political organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, on Thursday urged the Abia State governor-elect, Alex Otti, to extend a hand of fellowship to his fellow governorship contestants in the just-concluded poll.
Isiguzoro said Otti should forget about the past and form an alliance with the opposition to ensure the state remains peaceful.
This was as he urged the governor-elect to prioritize security, wealth creation, and the welfare of workers in the state.
Speaking with Newspot, the Secretary-General of Ohanaeze said: “Ohanaeze congratulates the governor-elect of Abia State, Alex Otti for his victory. He should be magnanimous in his victory, and extend a hand of friendship to all his fellow contestants.
“Abia has been very peaceful and would continue to be peaceful. Otti should forget about the past because government is a continuum.
“Otti should forget past grievances and tackle the problems facing Abia State. He should sustain the peace of Ikpeazu’s administration, he should consider the welfare of workers, security, and wealth creation should be his priority.
“Desist from political detractors or advisers that would give you bad advice on certain issues. Carry all Abians along in your government.”
Isiguzoro also commended the outgoing Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu for ensuring the state was peaceful.
He charged Ikpeazu to ensure a peaceful transition of power to Otti.
“We should also commend the outgoing governor of Abia State for finding it worthy to congratulate the governor-elect, he should do everything to ensure a smooth transition of power to Otti,” he said.
