The Dangote refinery is set to begin a free fuel distribution scheme on Monday while simultaneously announcing a significant reduction in the retail price of petrol.
The initiative, confirmed by the company’s spokesperson, aims to alleviate the current fuel scarcity and reduce costs for consumers across multiple regions.
According to a statement from the Dangote Group, the free fuel distribution program will commence in key states, including those in the South West, as well as Abuja, Kwara, Delta, Rivers, and Edo.
This rollout comes alongside a new pricing structure that sees petrol retailing at N841 per litre in Lagos and the South West, and N851 per litre in Abuja, Edo, Kwara, Rivers, and Delta States.
The company stated that the distribution program was previously delayed due to logistical challenges. To address these issues and ensure efficient supply, the refinery has begun receiving a fleet of 10,000 CNG-powered trucks this year, with over 1,000 already in hand to support the initial phase of distribution.
