JAMB sets new cutoff mark

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially set the cut-off marks for admissions into various tertiary institutions across Nigeria for the 2025/2026 academic session.

In a major announcement following its 2025 Policy Meeting on Admissions held in Abuja, the board declared 150 as the minimum acceptable score for admission into universities.

The decision also listed varying cut-off points for other higher education institutions. Colleges of Nursing will require a minimum score of 140, while polytechnics, colleges of agriculture, and colleges of education all have a unified cut-off mark of 100.

Adding another significant layer to the admissions process, the Federal Government has reiterated the policy mandating a minimum age of 16 years for all candidates seeking admission into tertiary institutions. This new age requirement will be strictly enforced through the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS).

This development comes on the heels of technical glitches experienced during the recent 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), indicating JAMB’s efforts to reinforce the admissions framework for the upcoming academic year.

The new policies aim to ensure a more structured and equitable admission process for all prospective students.
